Abstract

This study investigated the knowledge, attitude, and
practice (KAP) of sexuality among secondary school
students in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo
State. It was guided by three research questions and one
hypothesis which was tested at the 0.05 level of
significance. A descriptive correlational survey design
was adopted. The population comprised 5,064 Junior
Secondary School 3 students, from which a sample of
150 students was selected using a simple random
sampling technique. Two instruments were used: an
achievement test and a questionnaire. Descriptive
statistics, including frequency and percentages, were
employed, while Pearson Product Moment Correlation
was used to test the hypothesis. The hypothesis was
rejected, indicating a significant relationship among
students' knowledge, attitude, and practice of sexuality.
Findings revealed a moderate level of sexuality
knowledge and a generally positive attitude towards
sexuality education, with a majority showing low levels
of sexual practice. The study concluded that sexuality education should be expanded to improve students'
knowledge and healthy decision-making. It
recommended that government agencies implement
regular monitoring and evaluation of sexuality
education programs to ensure they meet the
developmental needs of students.
